  2. Adds touchscreen, rear camera, speakers to entry-, mid-variants

Maruti Brezza Urbano Edition: what’s new?

The Urbano Edition is available on the entry-level LXi and mid-level VXi variants in a bid to improve their equipment list. The Urbano Edition for Brezza LXi adds in a rear parking camera, a touchscreen, speakers, front fog lamps, fog lamp garnish, front and rear skid plates, front grille chrome garnish, body side moulding and a wheel arch kit. These accessories cost Rs 52,370 when purchased standalone, and Rs. 42,000 if bought as a kit. However, Maruti is offering them with the Urbano Edition package at Rs 15,000 on the LXi variant.

When paired with the VXi variant, Urbano Edition brings in a rear camera, fog lamps, a special dashboard trim, body side moulding, wheel arch kit, metal sill guards, a registration plate frame, and 3D floor mats. All of these accessories together cost Rs 26,149 when purchased separately, and Rs 18,500 when bought as a kit. However, Urbano Edition brings the price down to Rs 3,500 over the ex-showroom price.

The Urbano Edition is available with both the petrol and CNG powertrain options. Both manual and automatic trims get the new package. Without the package in place, the Brezza is currently priced from Rs 8.34 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh, but is available with discounts of up to Rs 25,000 this month.

The introduction of the Urbano Edition is similar to the recently launched Dream Series range that brings in additional features to Alto K10, S-Presso and Celerio in a bid to improve sales. Owing to a positive response, the limited-run Dream Series' availability has been extended by a month.

Maruti Brezza: powertrain, rivals

The Brezza gets a sole 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder NA petrol engine putting out 103hp and 137Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed torque converter auto. The compact SUV also gets a CNG option. Rivals include Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, among other similarly priced SUVs.
