Bentley Continental GT PHEV: what’s new?

While the new Continental GT is completely covered in camouflage, the new headlamp shape is visible. The teardrop design on the headlamps is inspired by the highly exclusive Batur, however, the overall shape is more rounded.

The new Continental GT will be the first Bentley to use the new ‘ultra-performance hybrid’ set-up, which pairs an uprated 4.0-litre V8 with a single electric motor that is expected to be integrated into the gearbox. The two combine to produce 782hp and a whopping 1,001Nm peak torque, which makes it more potent than the W12 fitted in the Batur.

Bentley claimed a 0-100kph sprint time of 3.6 seconds for the old Continental GT W12, however, the upcoming new model is expected to be quicker than that. Do note that Bentley is yet to reveal the performance figures for the upcoming new Continental GT. The new PHEV replaces Bentley’s previous V8 and W12 powertrains.

In a bid to preserve its dynamic character, the incoming fourth-generation car receives new dual-valve dampers in addition to tweaked active anti-roll bars, plus revised torque vectoring and four-wheel steering systems.

Bentley Continental GT PHEV: India launch details

Following a global launch, the new Continental GT PHEV is also expected to be brought to India as a replacement for the existing model. With the old V8 engine gone, the new Continental GT will likely carry a much higher base price tag.
