Mahindra XUV400: new variants

The Mahindra XUV400 is currently offered in EC Pro, EL Pro, and EL Pro with the larger battery pack. The new variants are expected to be named EC L, EC L (O), EC LL, EL LL (O), EL LH, EL LH (O), EL PH and EL PH (O). There will be three battery packs on offer - a 39.4kWh unit offering a range of 456km (unchanged), a 34.43kWh battery with 402km range (+27km) and another 39.4kWh battery with different cells and a range of 444km (new).

Power output for all battery pack options remains unchanged at 150hp, while the 310Nm torque figure will also likely be the same as the current version. It is yet to be seen if there will be any other mechanical changes or new feature additions.

We reported back in December last year that Mahindra is also working on introducing a new EV powertrain for the recently launched XUV 3XO. The XUV 3XO EV (name not confirmed) will have similar design updates as the ICE version, but will feature some EV-specific styling tweaks.

Mahindra XUV400: price, rivals

The Mahindra XUV400 is currently priced from Rs 15.49 lakh to Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker had also previously announced that the electric SUV will get no price cuts owing to similar moves by rivals. On the contrary, Mahindra had said that the XUV400 will receive a nominal price hike after May 31, 2024.

The XUV400 directly puts up against the Tata Nexon EV, while also faces some competition from the MG ZS EV that sits a segment above.
