Triumph has released teaser images on its social media platforms, announcing the imminent arrival of the new Daytona 660. The middleweight supersport is set to be unveiled on January 9 and it’ll take on the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Honda CBR650R and the upcoming Yamaha R7.

The new Triumph Daytona 660 was already spotted testing overseas earlier this year and that helped shed light on certain aspects of the motorcycle. The engine, main frame and swingarm on the new Daytona 660 appear to be shared with the Trident 660 and output figures from its in-line three-cylinder engine shouldn’t stray too far from the 81hp/64Nm both the 660 models (Trident and Tiger Sport) make.

Judging from the teaser and spy shots, the Daytona 660 appears to have an aggressive, fully faired design, which is sure to appeal to a lot of people. It gets a split LED headlight arrangement, a split seat setup and the ergonomics don’t seem as committed as on the older Daytona 675.

The display is also expected to be similar to the other two Triumph 660s and the features it packs in should also be the same. Expect the Daytona 660 to pack in the same electronic rider aids consisting of two riding modes (Rain, Road), a bi-directional quickshifter and a simple traction control system, as the other two bikes. It remains to be seen if Triumph adds a more aggressive riding mode, considering the sporty positioning of this bike.

In terms of pricing, expect the new Triumph Daytona 660 to cost more than the Trident 660, and in the ballpark of the Tiger Sport 660. For reference, the Triumph Trident 660 starts from Rs 8.12 lakh while the Tiger Sport 660 is priced from Rs 9.34 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Would you pick the Triumph Daytona 660 over its rivals? Let us know in the comments.
