Ultraviolette F77 deliveries commence

0

Three months on from its official launch, deliveries of the Ultraviolette F77 electric motorcycle have commenced. With the company’s first dealership scheduled to open in March, deliveries are currently taking place from Ultraviolette’s manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. The F77 is priced between Rs 3.80 and 4.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), placing it pretty much in a space of its own in the electric two-wheeler space. Compared to petrol-powered two-wheelers, it’s priced between the likes of the KTM RC 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 400.

We had a chance to ride the F77, both on track as well as on the road, and we found its performance to be comparable to bikes in the 250-300cc space. It also boasts one of the most impressive range figures of any electric two-wheeler in India today, with a 307km claimed IDC range for its higher-spec Recon variant. This is courtesy of the largest battery pack installed on any electric two-wheeler in India, measuring a substantial 10.3kWh. For reference, something like the Ola S1 Pro gets a 4kWh unit.

At the time of deliveries beginning, Ultraviolette has also announced plans to raise a further $120mn (Rs 992cr approx.) in its next round of funding. The company says this will be used towards “global expansion plans” and “vehicle platform development efforts”. At present, it has raised $55mn (Rs 455cr approx.), with the prolific investors being TVS Motor, Europe's EXOR Capital, and US-based Qualcomm Ventures.
