Toyota has just unveiled the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India, which is the brand’s first foray into the growing midsize SUV segment. The Hyryder has been developed in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki, which has a sister model slated for a global debut later this month. What gives the Hyryder a unique distinction in this segment is that it’s the first contender to get a strong-hybrid engine option, enabling it to run on pure-EV mode. It’s also the first SUV to feature an all-wheel drive system in its class.

Ahead of its launch next month, Toyota has revealed the variant line-up of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder along with a complete feature list. Here’s a run-down of the same.

  • Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be available E, S, G and V trims
  • Strong-hybrid powertrain available on top three variants
  • Gets panoramic sunroof, cooled seats among other features

Toyota will be offering the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in four trim levels – E, S, G and V. Of the two engine options on offer, the 103hp, 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech will be standard across the range. The strong-hybrid tech equipped 115hp, 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson Cycle petrol engine, sourced from Toyota, will be offered on the Hyryder’s S, G and V trims,
