The Volvo S90 and XC60 facelifts have been launched at Rs 61.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) with only the top-spec B5 Inscription trim on offer. They gain subtle design tweaks, new features and a new mild-hybrid petrol powertrain instead of the outgoing diesel. In comparison, the outgoing S90 and XC60 were both priced at Rs 60.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and were similarly offered only in the top-spec Inscription trim.

2021 Volvo S90, XC60: design updates
The Swedish carmaker revealed the updated S90 sedan internationally in February last year, while the XC60 SUV facelift made its global debut earlier this year.
As part of the facelift, both the sedan and SUV receive minor styling changes. The S90 gets a new front grille with vertical chrome slats and a new emblem along with a reworked front bumper that features a chrome strip lower down. The XC60 also gets an updated front fascia with a new grille and a reworked bumper with chrome trim. At the rear, both models get body coloured inserts and a chrome strip in the rear bumper with hidden tailpipes.
The new S90 is available in Crystal White, Bright Silver, Onyx Black and Denim Blue paint shades while the new XC60 is offered in Crystal White Pearl, Osmium Grey, Onyx Black, Denim Blue, Pine Grey and Fusion Red colours.

In terms of features, both models now get an ‘Advanced Air Cleaner’ system which filters cabin air and displays air quality on the infotainment screen. The infotainment screen is Google-powered with the assistant built-in to offer a smartphone-like experience. Then there's the Volvo Cars app connected car tech and Volvo's blind spot information system (BLIS) safety feature on offer.
The 2021 Volvo S90 also gets a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a 19-speaker, 1,400W Bowers and Wilkins audio system, massaging front seats and air suspension. The updated XC60 meanwhile, also features adaptive cruise control and a 15-speaker, 1,100W Bowers and Wilkins audio system.
Both models are also being offered with a three-year Volvo Service package priced at Rs 75,000.
2021 Volvo S90, XC60: powertrain details
In this update, Volvo has replaced the diesel engines in favour of a mild-hybrid petrol powertrain. The facelifted S90 and XC60 are now powered by a 250hp, 350Nm, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit, that works in conjunction with a 48V integrated starter-generator motor.
Meanwhile, the outgoing S90 was powered by Volvo’s 190hp, 2.0-litre ‘D4’ diesel motor, while the XC60 featured the 235hp, 2.0-litre ‘D5’ diesel mill. An eight-speed automatic gearbox was standard on both models, with the SUV also boasting of all-wheel drive functionality.
2021 Volvo S90, XC60: rivals in India
The upgraded S90 goes up against the Mercedes-Benz E-class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF, which is also slated for a facelift.
The XC60, on the other hand, will find competition in the form of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and the upcoming Audi Q5 facelift.
